I wear 'em all the time. They were my college shoes. Then I got married and had to wear black shoes, so they were my wedding shoes. And then I got a job that requires business casual dress. . . so they're my work shoes. I took 'em with me to hike over Europe, and I took 'em with me to do relief work in Dallas and New Orleans after Katrina hit.

I teach string orchestra music at two schools in the rural area where I live. Being a musician, I have always found it very difficult to "guess" what a "normal teacher" looks like, and I have more demanding wardrobe needs as a teacher who walks all day long. On a typical school day, I wear a long or midlength skirt of interesting design and one of a few pairs of Dr. Martens boots, sometimes with interesting fishnets, etc. Sometimes I pair this with a vintage music tshirt, or something else odd. The students remember me, and the "weird teacher's" look has actually attracted some students to classical music and the work we do. I try to inspire creativity in life and music for my students, and to teach them that you should be proud and in charge of your outer image. I want my students to express themselves musically and outwardly. I feel that I have built a lot of strong relationships with children, partially because I'm not afraid of being different from the other teachers, and the students are very quick to "defend" me to their other teachers who don't know me as well. I enjoy my job with the kids, and my Dr. Martens help me do my job comfortably in any weather.

Maybe Dr. Martens boots were thought, initially, “only” as working shoes.
However they became in few years symbol of a new dynamic view of life.
Nowadays Dr. Martens remain one of the favourite brands for unconventional and “free” people.
I believe in this kind of view of life but, working as a Lawyer in a rich town of northern Italy, I need flawless and smart “working clothes”.
So I wear my Dr. Martens 8 eyes boots when I’m working, ‘couse they are perfect, not only for my person, but for my job too!

On the set or on location it's tough work and even tougher when you need to be on your feet all day. Even the day we had to shoot on a race track my docs became my best friends. On location the last thing you want to worry about is comfort and what you're stepping in I love my Docs for that reason. The steel toes help for safety and also look great. I'm now on my third pair and I won't ever go to set with out them.
They even got me through the 24 hr race never once took them off and still stayed comfortable the entire time.

I have been in love with Dr. Martens since 1984. I still have and wear the first pair of boots I bought. Black 20 eyes that a friend found in the warehouse in London since they didn't sell size 4 in 20 eyes in the USA!! That was before Al Gore discovered the internet!! I wear my Docs every day. I even got married 10 years ago in a pair of Docs. I love that I can wear them to work, still comply with the companies rules yet be a comfortable individual! Most of the pairs I have stand out. Unfortunatlly they are all old and have seen better days. (cracking patent, faded patterns, oil stained from the machine shop) For the factory floor they are fine but I need a new pair for in the real world. At least once in a persons life they should rock a pair of Docs!!!!
