I have had several pairs of DOCS over the years. I was a lifeguard year round for about 10 years and wore many pairs of sandels. DOCS were my favoriates. The first pair i had last 6 years of constant use and abuse. The second pair of sandles last 12 YEARS. Yes i said 12 years. I just threw them away this morning after i bought a replacement. The leather is still good and felt a little guilty about tossing them. The soles just needed fixed. I have several pairs of mary janes, loafers, boots, shoes and slides. My closet looks like a doc store. They are fabulous shoes that last forever. I LOVE em. Thanks Jen

How can i start.... I got me first pair of docs from Bristol when I was 17 after I finally got my EMA. After an hour of draging my mate around the shop I picked a pair of red 8 eyes, i have been wearing them ever since. The leather may be cracked and the soles may be at a 30 degree angle but their mine. The boots them selves have been on a huge journey with me, ranging from drunken nights to church parades to "skiing" in the snow to playing foot ball in the dark, each activity the boots with stud remarkable. they even joined me on my immigration to Sweden.
Them boots got sole.....

When I was in 7th grade I got my first pair of Docs red 1914 laceups. I was so excited when they arrived I immediately put them on and have worn them everywhere since. I go to an all girls school with a uniform plaid skirt and etc and out of the entire school I'm the only one who wears Docs. Every day I walk the halls in my skirt, polo, and Doc Martens. They totally save my feet from the hard wear of walking up and down stairs all day. I get so many compliments on my Docs from teachers remembering their Doc wearing days. It makes me feel like I'm continuing a tradition! :D

I have inherited my family's wide feet and bunions and after my sister underwent a disastrous operation to have it rectified, I decided never to go the surgical route. Due to my foot problems I had to wear the 'old lady' styles available in health ranges. Docs (only the black boots) used to be available in SA in the 90's but are not imported anymore. I managed to find a pair and voila my foot problems were solved! I can now stay on my feet for a whole day, walk a lot and stand a lot. The bug bit and I started buying on eBay or directly from the UK. Unfortunately it works out extremely expensive, but worth every cent! I am now the proud owner/collector/addict of more than 60 pairs they have their own shelves in their own room and yes I wear all of them! My collection includes styles from virtually every range, unisex and female, heels and oxfords. They are meticulously cleaned before and after every wear and all of them are in immaculate condition. Unfortunately I cannot wear heels as high as the Diva range, much to my great disappointment. And I probably am the only person in SA with such a large collection and one of a small handful people in SA who wear Docs. I get compliments as I go, especially from my 3rd year students! I'll definitely continue wearing Docs until the day I day and probably be buried in them as well! They have become my trademark and fit my feet, lifestyle and personality.

I have always been the kind of person who goes against the crowd. I prefer to go down my own road and I don't walk down that road without my Docs. In a time with such ridiculous fashion phase footwear as Crocs and flip flops, shoes with no arch support or real comfort to them, Doc Martens liberate not only the feet, but the person wearing them. It liberates them from the mainstream conformity machine and makes them the black dot in the center of the white mural. You can wear anything with Docs and it will look good. Be rebellious, wear Dr. Martens.
